In the early 90s, with a huge national following, 3 x world champion Tom Curren got a few surfboards from Baron Surfboards. Tom ripped on these boards, which his competitors had to emulate to stay in the title race. This led to a number of top international surfers, (such as Todd Chesser, Martin Potter, Derek Ho and Sunny Garcia) ordering surfboards from Baron Surfboards. Some of these top surfers still get surfboards whenever they are in South Africa. Since then Baron Surfboards has made many of the current international and South African champions their favorite surfboards. Surfers such as Andy Irons 3 x world champion, Kelly Slater 9 x world champion, Taylor Knox, top 16 surfer for the last 10 years. Travis Logic, ISA world champion, and Shane Thorne South African champion. Grant "Twiggy" Baker, who is considered the best Big wave rider in the world currently, has been riding Baron Surfboards for the last 15 years, and puts a lot of his success down to his surfboards that he rides. Grant has designed, with Baron (jnr) his own signature model surfboard that we distribute worldwide.
